Immediate accessibility, portability and fast setup as well as no risk of cross-contamination make Ambu® aScope™ 3 ideal for bedside BAL procedures in the ICU.
aScope is a single-use sterile flexible videoscope with a 2.2mm working channel. With an aScope 3, the patient can be treated immediately when needed without having to wait for another airway specialist to arrive. The sterile aScope 3 ensures that culture samples are not contaminated during the bronchoscopy procedure.
In most ICU's bedside bronchoscopy procedures such as bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) or bronchial wash (BW) are routine procedures performed by the intensivist or other airway specialists. The cytology samples and cultures obtained help tailor the correct treatment2.
The sterile aScope 3 minimizes the potential risk of contamination of the collected samples.
